Goin to look at a 88
Hey all,
As some as u may know i was looking at a 93 stang. That got sold before i got to it again. Darn. But anyway now i am going to go look at a 88 stang that looks to have mass air. The paint job is new. The miles read (50000 but that means it is prolly 150 000 right) or my other thought was the engine was replaced witha 89 and up and it has been reset when the new motor was installed anyway what are some things to look for to see if it was converted to mass air or if it is a diffrent motor then stock. My buddy said he doesent think they did vin stamps on the engine till later years. Guys help me out what should i be remided to look for and some new things to look for if any.

RE: Goin to look at a 88
Update
Just got back from taking a look at it and it was not what i was looking for. First of all it was not a dealer it was a repair shop place and i have a hunch that it was in an accident and they fixed it up and if i got a car facts that it would not tell me that cause they did not report it. That is my guess i could be completly wrong though.

they are absolutley right....i bought mine for 6500 from a dealerwith a new paint job and a list of problems.....some of the things wrong with mine: Weater stripping, rear hatch loose, rear defog dont work, rattles everywhere, power steering pump, and ofcourse my beat *** tranny. so definetly take ur time inspectingthe little stuff. And take it for a real test drive, that why u can tell if the car has any chance at standing up to ur everyday driving habits. Good Luck
