Damn man, give us time for an answer why don't ya!
Off course there is hidden smog stuff on your Stang, you don't think they make them without it anymore do you? They started it in the late 60's with the PCV systems and they ain't let up any since then. The tree huggers are keeping the pressure on and they ain't about to throw in the towel either. I will give them credit though, without the pressure to reduce emissions the automakers would never have developed the computer controlled fuel injection technology and the performance we get now wouldn't be possible without it either. Unfortunately, you go trying to bypass it all and you will loose a lot of the reliability of the computer controlled technology and it really ain't worth it for a street driven Stang IMO. I suggest you leave well enough alone and concentrate on making other mods for more power.

Yep, and the "stuff" that will cause the most problems ar ehidden inside the computer. Unlike a home computer which can be configured to do different things the computer in your car is dedicated to handling a stock engine with all the stock emissions pakage intact and working properly.

Too bad the Federal Law on emissions didn't include the demand that the jungle of small plastic tubes Ford uses for emisions control last more then ten years! Once they start breaking (usually happens in the winter here in the Great Lakes states) you can't simply go out and plug a vacuum lines like in the old days (1960).

If the computer doesn't receive a signal because of a broken vacuum line the car starts running worse. Most of the people who think they "need" to modify their Mustangs for "better performance" would be better off taking the long hours to restore their emissions control package to WORKING stock configuration. But that's life.

(No, my 85's emisions equipment is not functioning.)
