I had this problem a few years back. It ended up being the egr position sensor on the valve. And it would only do it when the weather turned cold. It would flicker on and off at just off idle throttle pressure during cruise speeds.

hmmm.... i am definately gonna pull the codes tomorrow, gonna have to search AllData... cuz no one seems to know the jump procedure to get the light to flash the codes

REASONS FOR RECALL
The "Check Engine" warning light may be activated because of intermittent contact at the wiring harness (12A581 to 9D930) interconnect assemblies. This may result in unnecessary EVP sensor and EGR valve replacements.
SERVICE ACTION
Vehicles returned for service will be inspected, and if necessary, have wiring harness interconnect assemblies installed at no charge.
