87 Mustang wheels and tires

RE: 87 Mustang wheels and tires
You wont have any probs at all with a 255. As for the turbine wheels, I ran some 295/50/15 one winter on the back of my car with very minor rubbing around hard corners on those rims. Why are you going so narrow on the tires, you can fit up to a 285 in the rear with no rubbing issues.

RE: 87 Mustang wheels and tires
im looking to get some weld drag lites with 265/50/15 in back and i know im going to put a 5 or 7 inch wheel up front
what i want is for the wheel in the back to feel up my wheel well but not stick out any and a nice deep lip....
i was thinking 9 inch wheel what backspacing would I need and what off set would i need up front with a 5 inch wheel....
sorry dont mean to hijack thread but didnt see a reason to start a new one.

RE: 87 Mustang wheels and tires
i still have my quad shocks and car is lowered with steeda sport lowering springs.... i dont want to rub and i dont want my tire to look too balloned out either...
ok a 265/50/16 is 10.43" wide
a 275/50/16 is 10.83" wide....
i dont want the balloned look so i think id rather go with a 9" wheel imo it will look better... ive seen 275 on 8" wheel and in my opinion too wide of a tire for that rim. its the same as putting a 255 on a pony rim it will look too balloned.
ill figure out the backspacing.
