Default blowbye or bye bye time?

i thought maybe after just finishing my motor that maybe i had screwed something up with rings or something because i could go down the track and i would leave some smoke behind and i mean a good bit,but beleive it or not we had a piece of fuel line on the pcv valve and upon intake the hose would collapse and i was told the motor was discharging it through the exhaust. now i figured the guy who said this was nuts but i changed it to the hard line per spec and it didnt do it anymore. you guys think coencidence or possibility.
