its not the actual synchros.. its the blocker ring. the blocker ring is the piece that grabs the synchros when engaged.

i know this but when i say blocker ring most people are like "whats a blocker ring" then i spend an hour trying to explain it, when if i just use layamns(sp) terms people don't ask questions and they still get what i mean... the actual syncro is made up of a few things

But it's incorrect cause it's not the synchro that's gone bad. It dosent take long to explain the blocker ring is the piece that engages the synchros and the piece that actually wears out.

does your second grind sometimes too? same problem for me, the syncro is ****ed. just buy a new tko/t-600 and you will be fine. if you have the prob, never ever downshift for any reason to first, i never would in any car except one of those new audi DSG's or something, and secondly, if it wont go in, just give it a second for the syncro's to calm down and carefully shift it back in.

Remember not all t-5s are created equall. I believe the 90-93 were the World Class trannies, which seems to be alot better then the older ones,
sometimes my tranny does the same, I just hitt another gear first or push the clutch in again

I don't think he was bitching. I think he was trying to ask a simple question before dishing out money.


However, ckyguy68 is right that they don't last forever. Especially after modding. I don't think it's time for a new tranny though. I would go with the advice above and make it a habit to put it into 2nd before 1st. You'll probably have to some work eventually.
