Default 85GT shocks and sturts question

What's the difference between the 85 and 87 shocks and struts. I want to get some strange adjustables but they say they only fit 87+.

The shocks are the same. They will work. The struts won't work because 86 and before mustangs had 10 inch brakes and a different spindle then 87+ 5.0 cars.

its the thickness of the strut is where the problems are at
someone said they make shins for that but i have never seen me
you need to upgrade your brakes anyway for better stopping power
and it also will lower your car slightly

they arethe same from 1979-1993
my lakewood shocks and struts were listed from 79-93 all being the same, there was some shims for the struts and I had to use them.
