they do have a pedistal mount set. i think it is 60cc.... thats the one i was going to use and keep my stock rockers. thats when i thought about getting a set of 1.7's for the exhaust (http://neweraperformanceparts.com/default.asp?S=503&A=E&PKV=AFR165CCSBF|0 ) <----(you may have to do copy and paste)

what would be the difference in the 58cc and the 61cc stud mounts? is bigger better? will that affect the compression ratio? which do you recommend? or shoud i go with pedistal mount?

it says anything but the pedistal mounts you need new push rods. is pedistal mount ok?

Pedestal mount is OK if that's the way you decide to go. bigger ain't better with combustion chambers, if you go with the smaller combustion chambers, the 58 CC ones, this will bump up the compression ratio a bit and make a bit more power but you will definitely need to run the higher octane gas with them. note that the compression ratio with the AFR heads was 9.65:1 versus the others which were lower and they did use the stud mounted rockers on the test heads too. if I were you and wanted the biggest bang for the buck, I would go with the smaller chambered, stud mounted rockers and invest in a new set of pushrods to take full advantage of the AFR heads. but that's up to you to decide and if you have to pass emissions testing, you might want to go with the 60 cc, pedestal mount ones instead. I do like the 90 HP increase over the stock heads that they got with the AFR heads though.
Now that I've gone back and looked, I see that they do make a set that is emission legal so you're good to go with that one.

arent the 58cc 60cc and 61cc all smog legal? cant you get a set of pedistal mount rollers from summit? what octane would i run with the 58cc if set the timing back to 10*? how much is a good set of pushrods?

please do a little research on your own at http://www.airflowresearch.com/
you will see that they have both smog legal and non-smog legal 165 heads for sale. make damn sure you make a note of the correct part number for what you want so when you go to buy it, you give them the right part number too.
I'm sure Summit can supply anything in the Ford Racing Performance Parts catalog although they don't show it all in their catalog.
and unless you want to buy unleaded 100 octane racing gas at $4.99/gallon, the best octane you can get on the street nowdays is either 92 or 93 depending on where you live and you will most likely need the best street gas available with the smaller chamber heads.
and I haven't bought any pushrods in so long I don't have a clue what a set costs anymore.
