i have a 1992 5.0 bored 050 over mahle pistons, h-beam rods, trickflow intake2500-6500 rpm, comp cam1000-4700 rpm, but when the rpms get to 5,000 the motor starts to pop,spuder, ping, and it wont go any higher rpms, the msd box has a 6,000 chip, motor rebuilt 3000 miles ago w/new heads (stock) please help me

sounds like its possibly running lean. you upgrade the fuel system at all?

your cam stops making power at 4.700 rpm, is this valve float? or have you suddenly experienced this?

thats exactly what i was thinkin, dont matter if ur ignition box can rev that high if ur cam cant do it then it wont go

one mistake for that setup, as well as your cam can't go that high. just read what the other guys said.

You have an intake that is good form 2500-6500, yet you are using stock heads and a cam that is 1000-4700....Think about it, your combo is 99.9% wrong.

You have a very screwed up combo there. Like Blck92GT said You have an intake for 6500 Rpms with stock heads and a cam good good to 4700. You lossing 2000 RPMs of usable power.

Its not the heads holding you back from Rpm, its the cam. My friend has an 83 GT with stock heads, Edelbrock Torker II Intake and matching cam with a 2500-6500 RPM range and it pulls to 6200 RPM. Its definitly not the heads.

The cam has a power band to 4700, it should be able to rev higher. It doesn't mean the motor won't rev past that.
There is a problem elsewhere. Either spark or fuel. Could be bad timing or a bad ign module, plugged converters.

Bad combo and all still sounds like she's running lean @ the top end for one reason or the other...
