i think buying a cobra motor would be a major waste... just build your own or have someone else do it... that way you can use better qualitly parts and have it the way you want it... and im sure it would make more hp, and be cheaper... buying a cobra motor is going to cost alot basicly because the word "cobra" is in there... i'd really think about it...

my lil 306 is in the 550hp range in your defense the quad cam engine would look awsum in the fox body

IMO it is not a waste! Its true the 302 has an endless supply of awesome parts. But I see it as this a 302 comes stock with about 220hp while the cobra comes with 390+ including a SC, change a pulley and add some bolt ons and your over 500hp. For the 302 to be over 500 you need to stroke it, heads, all fuel componets, full exhaust, upper & lower intake, SC, change tranny or build the T-5 & get a heavier clutch, maybe new drive shaft, ignition, that is all I can think of now but you get the point. I am not bashing the 302 cause that is one of the best motors to build, I just think it would be easier and funner to put a cobra motor in the fox.

go for the cobra motor you can get a used one at ford racing parts or mustang performance specialties for around 5k. plus the 4.6 not very many people have done that and that is one of the best engines ford has ever built becuase it can withstand 1000hp before internals fail and it is easy to get alot of hp for cheap and IMO it is better for everyday driving.

Wow, if those prices aren't fazing you then why buy a used engine? Buy a new crate motor form Ford.

Hate to rain on anybody's parade, but the retail list price on the 2003 Mustang Cobra 4.6L DOHC 4V supercharged engine assembly, part # M-6007-SC46 is $11, 999.95 in the 2004 Ford Racing Performance Parts catalog. It's by far the most expensive crate engine they offer. The 2003 Mach 1 engine is only $5,800 for comparison purposes.
