Default New Explorer GT-40 intake question

OK, so I think this one is new, but after searching I couldn't find it. Does it matter when year intake you get. I know the gt-40 (Not the gt-40P) is the 96-97.5 heads. But what about the intake. If I get a gt-40p intake will it work with gt-40 heads????). And is there any way to determine what year or style the intake is if you don't know what year 5.0 it cam off of???

there is no such thing as a gt40p intake. they are called gt40e and i thought that they went on both the 40 and the 40p's? i can't see how it would work if it sits an inch forward either.

Default RE: New Explorer GT-40 intake question

i have done it twice, to find the year model check the casting #'s
the lower is just like the cobra/gt 40, its just the upper is a shorter intake closer in size to the ho, you will have to drill a hole in the intake to add what i think is called the air charge sensor, takes a 3/8 pipe tap to do so, it a good cheap intake with good bang for the buck, i just installed it on my 93 and the strut tower brace clears it just fine so i can't see it setting any different then just the stocker
think the casting# like x6 or x7 which would be a 96 or 97 , anyway that second # should tell the year model , can call ford to make sure if it makes any difference to you, one of mine call off a 99 and the other off a 96-7 and they are both the same
