Hello to all. I'm new to Mustang ownership. I love it so far I can tell you that.

Got a 91 LX 5.0 I've got access to 5.0 out of another car. The other 5.0 has been modified (not sure of the exact specs on it). It was modified by my brother in law. He taught at a Vo-Tech and used it as a training tool, but it was done right, he made sure of that. It's carb'd along with a bunch of other good stuff. My current 5.0 that I'm using is fuel injected. I would like to put this new(modified) 5.0 in my current Mustang but I've been told that I'd run into to many problems. For example, the fuel pump that I'm using with my fuel injection would be to strong for this new engine that carb'd. Also that all the sensors would have to be changed out and so forth. I did think about using my fuel injection on this new engine but I feel that it would kind of a waste since this new engine has a nice Edelbrock intake.

To tell ya'll more about this new engine....My brother bought it from a salvage yard and was paying my brother-in-law to rebuild it with his class(and on the side) to install into a 1976 Ford Pinto. That kind of went by the way side when my brother in law moved to Alaska to work with the government, so the Pinto never got finished. Now there is a perfectly good 350+ HP rebuilt 5.0 waiting to be put into my Mustang.

Do ya'll think that this can be done for the $500-$800 that I've been quoted or am I asking for trouble.

It can be done...You would have to put a different pickup in the tank if you go carbed. I would just stay injected if it was me. Is it going to be a DD or track car?

Thanks for your answers. It'll be a daily driver so fuel injected would be better gas mileage.My drive to work is about 35 min. of highway.

Do you think that the fuel injected would be affected by the Edelbrock intake. Would I have to worry about the fuel rails or something?

Probably a little more, you're going to need to get it tuned.

You would need to change intakes. The carb intake wont accept FI. Just use your stock intake or a good aftermarket FI intake.

Yeah, the carb set up(intake/fuel deliverywise) is completely different. You could take that money you have, buy a nice intake(Edelbrock makes a nice one) and maybe some 24lb injectors and a larger fuel pump(not necessary) and will be all set and under budget.
