"A REAL KING COBRA WILL HAVE A NOTCHED GROOVE INDENTED INTO THE PRESSUE PLATE FINGERS" I copied that from an ebay listing

i got a king cobra clutch and thought it was nice but i only drove on it for like 50 miles before i took the car off the road for paint and bodywork... and i also have heard a few bad things about centerforce clutches.. i guess they are either hit or miss.

i hear people having good luck with them but i killed mine in 3000 miles, maybe i just got a defect or something, but my center force has taken more of a beating than the cobra did, and when i rebuilt the tranny the clutch still looked pretty new (15000 miles) so it's not like it's a lot of miles on it but it taken 5 times the abuse the cobra did

This in my experience is correct. The King Cobra I bought off of eBay had said notched grooves on pressure plate fingers. I purchased mine from a reputable stealership that was big into go fast goodies, so the source was credible. It was plainly different than the one it replaced - beefier, had those grooves and a heckuva lot stiffer to actuate, which I like. So I think 89 is dead on here given my experience...
