Like previously stated nothing is going to happen. If you had just open shorties then you might burn your exhaust valves up but you should be fine. You would probably notice better performance if you put your mufflers back on though.

it is possible to bend your pushrods with not enough backpressure
??? How???
Plus one...particularly on the bottom end.

to be honest with you.. I have no clue... it was something my boss told me when i was driving my car around the shop with just my shorties and X pipe. He said (dont rev it up, you can bend a pushrod because you dont have enough backpressure. I believed him because hes a Master tech, fully certified ASE technician with 37 years experience.
Back pressure has nothing to do with the pushrods really unless it causes a valve to sieze for some reason which I guess could be possible but it would have to be extremely cold or you'd have to have a pretty worn engine. I just got my last 3 ases need to be a master tech but to be honest all I did was study for most of them. I'm not saying the tech you work with doesn't know what hes talking about but anyone can be ase certified. I'm only 20 years old and have 3 years experience and I have all 8 ases.

So, Adder, are you gonna school me on the merits of SD bumpsticks, or what?

all i can really "school" you on is that if you install 1.7 roller rockers, you will have all the same cam specs as a 5.0 cobra with the exception of the lobe seperation angle

i know my dad ran his old cougar uncapped once with a 302 and bent the pushrods, im guessing less backpressure lets the motor free rev alot easier and somehow bends them i dont know..

What mufflers do you suggest using if I were to put some on. I'm looking for a loud low toned rumble at a idle. Thanxs for the help so far guys.
