Default 5.0 5sp question?

Is there any vacume to the 5 speed trans in these cars??? Looking over my car today I found two vac lines in the motor area that were off/cracked. I put them back on and now my shifter is MUCH smoother then before which was a hard to get it into gear at times from a stop. I also put new plug wires on it but I am sure that did not do it.

My 5 speed is sometimes harder to get into first at a stop. It always goes in...just sometimes it feels notchier than others. Then sometimes, it will go in smoothly many times in a row. I think it's just conincidence that your shifting feels smoother now. Your synchros have probably, by chance, just been lining up more neatly than usual...or something along those lines (as I am no tranny expert).

Wow this is a really big coincidence. I just bought a 93 lx 5.0 with some vacuum lines cut and plugged under the hood and under my shifter boot I can hear some sort of noise as if theres excess air tryin to seep out.

Seems mine is smooth then the next time out it is a little less smooth. Drivable but.... Maybe I am just not used to this car.
