Default fuel sending unit wiring

ok so last week when i put my new tank, pump, and sending unit, i noticed that the wiring plug for the sending unit was destroyed... so i just ripped it all apart to get it out... now i'm on my way out to fix it, and i can't seem to find a diagram of which wire goes where on the unit, i believe it was a red and black wire, anyone know which terminal they go to? i dont wanna cross them and blow something else.

if you have a red and a black wire, just pop the sending unit out again, you dont need to fully remove it.. but take it out far enough to see which side of the unit is red and black inside the tank... match those colors outside and youll be ok

ideally that would be what i would do normally, but i'm not dropping the tank. somewhere along this car's 17 year lifespan, someone cut a 2-3" hole in the spare tire hole, directly above the sending unit, so i was just gonna do the wiring from there.
