hi guys,
could you please help me out. i have 16"replica cobra r's on my 87 gt with 225/55R16 mirada tires on um. now i see guys with much bigger wheels and tires and i dont think i should be rubbing with what i have on. rubbing occurs in the front on the driver's side to the front of the tire where the ground effects is screwed on and rubbing occurs on the right front to the back of the tire. the rubbing isn't very severe at all, just on a sharp turn and such things. and there's more rubbing on the driver's side then the right by the paint wear. should they be rubbing with this setup? any possible solutions/fixes? thanks

It could have to do with the offset of the rim.

'91 up had different ground effects for the 16" wheel so it wouldn't do that

55 could possibly rub on 16" but im not sure so im not gonna say that, got any side views of your car? im willing to bet your cars been wrecked before, i had the same issue with my gt.

Take the car to a good alignment shop (not Midas, Monro, etc) and see if they notice something being abnormal.

I can understand the tire rubbing on the left front but not the rear on the right side.

yeah i'm gonna get it checked out. Ecstasy i'm bettin your right about it bein wrecked before. what'd you end up doing to solve the problem with your gt? cuz i just went outside and measurred the wheel's space on both sides of the fender on the drivers and passengers side and they're different by about 7/16ths of an inch. so something must be off.

haha i sold my gt, no point in fixing it, whoever did the body work on it before i owned it did crappy body work, i have no clue why your rear tires would rub though, thats really odd to me, i had 225/60/16 on the back and it didnt rub on my gt. of course the spaces between the tire were diff but i think something got bent, here ill post pics:

i mean i could of fixed it, im assuming a control arm was bent. but it wasnt worth the money of fixing it.
