Default Redneck Ash Tray Fix

I bought my mustang recently in Aug. 06 It will be for my son (13) when he turns of age. (If I dont't make it too fast by then.) Anyway, of course the ash tray door was wide open & no spring or anything when I got it. So....... I aquired some Velcro from my work & cut very narrow strips of hook & loop w/self adhesive on the back side & applied to the top & bottom of the mating surfaces of the outside lip of the ash tray door. Seems to work fine. Need to clean it real good & get all that Armor-All off of the surfaces for it to work properly. The Velcro trick also helped a friend of mine with a 87 GT with the flop down map light that would not stay up & drain his battery. That tip will not work for you guys that can pull the front wheels. Confucius say: Velcro is your friend.

Also Note: I was going to buy the ash tray door fix-it kit from 50Rresto but the gauards here will not let me have any thin wire or spring steel in my prison cell ! (Just Kidding) LOL

I just drilled a hole where the tab broke off and put a small nut and bolt thru it and the nut comes out by the lighter. Unless you're looking for it you cant see it.

You know those little tire pressure gauges that use a magnet to stick to your fuel door? Those little magnets are surprisingly strong and in conjunction with a little carefully placed super glue work perfectly as a spring substitute.......

Just put a cup holder in there. Might be nice to have one instead of cramming down between the seat and center console.
