So not to insult AdderMk2 but does a 94's 302 really begin to break down at 450+ whp? I honestly come from the world of Nissans and this just seems to baffle me. I would think closer to 600+ but, then again i dont know mustangs.

My other questions, what is the stock rear ratio of a 94 GT with a T5? 2.73? Im looking at switching to 3.73's sometime soon and am wondering. thanks in advance

gears cant help you there, but its commonly believed thata 302 with 400hp maybe 500hpwill split in half, but only a few people here actually witnessed this so it might just be myth, ive heard of plenty of people taken them up to 600hp and running them all season.....it pretty much depends on how well the engine is built, i wouldnt risk it tho not without an aftermarket block

well not sure what you meant by the gears wont help me, im assuming you meant i think it'll help the motor stay alive longer, i was just talking about me swapping them in general. lol. if anything 3.73's will help it come apart faster lol. dont know, my mustang just feels REALLY doggy off the line, so if it does have 2.73 i know some 3.73 should wake it up a bit. guess it doesnt really help im use to driving a 11 second car..lol

your door tag should tell you your gear ratio.

yes gears will wake the car up a ton.

and ya the 302 is pretty damn weak compared to most (block wise)

A production 302 block will hold 500rwhp w/ a safe tune. Several guys locally are running that much power and some a little more. A 351 block is good to 600rwhp+.

Most people don't test the waters w/ 302's b/c it's hit or miss. You're block may hold 500 rwhp, or it may take a dump short of that.....

My $.02: If you plan on putting that much power in it, get a block that will, w/o question, hold that much power. Otherwise you may just be on borrowed time.....

EDIT: You most likely have 2.73's stock and 3.73's would be a great upgrade.
