Default Aftermarket Block question

wow..i seem to be asking alot of questions on here lately. Anyways, I have recently been asking about me modding my 94 GT, and everyone seems to say go with a Dart block, so i did some searching and ran a small list of stuff up for a full motor rebuild. Now my question.

If i do infact get a Dart block, what year was this block designed behind? Would i be safe getting any aftermarket heads? any specific model year cams? I would prefer to stay fuel injected with my trick flow setup will i run into bolt pattern problems on the heads with the intake?

these are the heads im looking at.

Dont really feel like spending money that i dont already have and get the wrong things. hope you understand

Depending on what your setup is you dont have to get a Dart block. I would also recommend a different set of heads, possibly a nice set of Canfield's. Whats your goal and whats your budget like? Just very retarted to me if your going to spend 5K ona f*cking shortblock and then put a sh*tty *** set of heads on it. From the looks of it, you dont need a Dart block and no offense but you dont seem too experienced.

your right i dont know d**k about mustangs, as i explained in another thread is that im honestly from the land of "the imports" (gasp). I've built many 400+hp Nissans but never really even touched a ford besides taking a 68' motor out and repainting it for a guy i know. So yes im not very experienced with mustangs hense why I've been asking so many questions.

So to answer some of your questions, i would prefer not to spend more than 1500 on some heads, im looking in the range of 5-6k to do a full rebuild and preferrably a 347 stroker setup. not 100% sure what power im looking at with that, but im wanting to build a setup good enough to handle around 500whp.

Im looking to keep the compression to around 9:1 as in the future im looking at doing a SC setup. Im guessing that a mild 347 isnt going to get me 400-500whp so this is why the low comp ratio.

so teach me wise one. throw some stuff at me.

u could stay with your stock block if 400hp is enough for you i wouldnt push the stock block past 450 but thats me ive seen some go higher but they are all short lived. A properly built 347 could get u right into your 400+ range and thats N/A. But a supercharged 347 stock block even if u have full forged internals will have a very short life. The block will split~

400whp isnt enough for me, and this is why i want to do a Dart block, is becuase im wanting it to be decently relieable.

Well have ya thought about a 351w?? Yes there stock blocks but can hold up better then the 302 and you can get one nearly dirt cheap. Just giving u a diff route instead of the high priced dart blocks.

can i still pu the 302 fuely setup on it, or will i have to switch to a carb'd setup? going 351 would be a good setup as long as i can retain my fuely setup.

351 would be a great choice. you get more cubes and a stronger block for ALOT less than a dart block and stroker kit. this will leave you w/ more money to get a nice set of heads, cam, etc.

p.s. check out camshaft innovations for your heads and cam
