I have a 1994 Mustang GT with an automatic transmission that won't seem to shift past 2nd gear anymore. The car has about 55k miles on it and about 2 weeks before this probelm occured the car shifted from 1st to 2nd and then stayed in 2nd until about 4000-4500 rpm with the throttle maybe half way down. Once I let off the gas it shifted to 3rd. This happened again maybe a week later but I wasn't pushing on the gas very hard at all. It only shifted after I let entirely off the gas. About 3 days later the "Check Engine" light came on leaving my house and then shut off after driving for a minute. This happend again a day later and on my way to school one day after getting off the highway the transmission would no longer shift past second gear. I had to drive it all the way home taking backroads at about 4000 rpm in second gear. If I shut off overdrive while driving instead of going into 3rd gear it seems jsut to drop into neutral and the rpm goes up and no power gets to the wheels. I checked for any computer codes and nothing came up. For now I have the car off the road and am waiting for a book I ordered on the AODE transmission before I drain the transmission fluid or do anything to it. I've heard that it could be a the shift 2-3 solenoid but i'm not sure yet. Any idea what the problem could be?

sounds like you blew your trans

but as transmissions go i only know C4's

It is probably the shift solenoid because when my AODE went in my 94 GT the car just stayed in first gear and wouldn't shift. I was lucky enough to make it to the tranny shop before it completely locked up.
