Default Stock or performance springs?

Hi everyone,

Just joined this site, looks awesome. I've just bought my first Mustang, an 88 LX Hatchback and i've got some work to do on it before it'll pass the safety test. I have to replace the rear coil springs and i'm wondering if its worth getting lowering or performace springs. I'm planning to put some work into the engine but i doubt i'll get much over 270 or 280 hp. Is the improved handling going to make a big difference? Thanks alot
