big question for you 5.0 guys
hey fellas i have a 2000 v6 and this summer i am looking to do an engine swap. the guys on the v6 forums dont know squat so i was hoping someone could help me out. ok i have heard it is very pricey and difficult from some. and from others they say its easy because the previous bodystyle some ran a 5.0 so just can anyone give me some pointers?

RE: big question for you 5.0 guys
There is a guy down here that put a 302 in a 2000 V6 car, it was a very trick setup. From what I saw it was a very simple swap. Only he dumped the FI for a carb, which made it a bit easier swap wise.

You should check your state's emission laws/testing before doing that swap. I live in NY and we have to get '96+ cars hooked up to a machine for emissions testing. No way would a newer car withan older motor like a 5.0 pass inspection here.

it is very much a doable swap. room is not an issue at all, a 302 is a little bitty motor. has anyone ever seen the comparison of a DOHC 4.6 to a 302? the 302 entire 302(longblock) is the size of the 4.6 shortblock.
it may have alot to do with your wiring ability if you want to keep the f/i. i hate wiring and honestly i couldnt tell you how easy it would be, but im guessing its fairly hands-on.

for a small fee, i will spend as much time as it takes to throughouly (sp?) examine the wiring harness of your car VS the wiring harness of the motor you buy, and i will write you up your own personal schematic for you to follow.

yes i have both a 4.6 DOHC and a 5.0 ho, big diff in size.
wiring shouldnt be too hard at all. all you need to find is a 5.0 efi harness and run the wires through the car. i think this switch wouldn't be too crazy hard at all.
