I'm pretty sure that the cops dont carry a timing light on them. Don't worry about whether it is street legal or not. Try 15 degrees with 91 octane.

the timing degree depends on your setup. are you all stock?? i deff wouldn't run any higher than 16. did you read that out of 50 mustang and superfords, i read that same article , it's in the jan 07 issue lol. if you bump the timing i'd run 93 octane.

every motor likes different timing. you just have to try what your motor likes.

step 1: put in the gas you are going to be using on a consistent basis
step 2: advance timing a degree
step 3: take the car around the block, hitting WOT at least once
step 4: if it doesnt ping, advance it 1 degree
step 5: repeat steps1 through 4 until it pings
step 6: back it off 1 degree

does it really make a noticable difference to advance the timing? besides not being able to use the lower octane gas

thats better, and yes it can give noticeable gains. I gained22rwhp by raising the timing from 11 to 17 degrees.
