Whats the perfect timing degree for 5.0 ?
I was wondering if theres any difference in the gasoline that we use forthe cars matter for example is there any performence difference between 87 and the 91 octane i was wondering because i am also gona advance the timing tomarrow im thinking if any of you guys know what would the best degree to set my timing i was thinking on 13 since that the most i can advance it for it to still be legal, also a readn a magazine that the perfecttiming for the 5.0 H.O engine would be 16 but that would not be street legal n california.... any sugestions apreciated since im gona do this tomarrow ....thanks

the timing degree depends on your setup. are you all stock?? i deff wouldn't run any higher than 16. did you read that out of 50 mustang and superfords, i read that same article , it's in the jan 07 issue lol. if you bump the timing i'd run 93 octane.

step 1: put in the gas you are going to be using on a consistent basis
step 2: advance timing a degree
step 3: take the car around the block, hitting WOT at least once
step 4: if it doesnt ping, advance it 1 degree
step 5: repeat steps1 through 4 until it pings
step 6: back it off 1 degree
