Building a race car...
So, I've decided I'm going to turn my 2002 LX into a cruiser, with basic performance mods (tune, a few mild upgrades, wheels, exhaust, intake, etc). But, I know I want more power. But spending 3 to 4 grand to put forced induction on a 6er? I dunno. Just seems a little half hearted. If I'm gonna spend that kind of cash, I might as well go all the way. So, I've decided I wanna look into a V8. Is a 5.0 a better platform for building a track car, for dragging, and general all around performance? I am pretty confident I want a early 90's stang, but what type of engine is in the air. Reason being is...
When I looked into what'd cost me to upgrade to a GT, it was about the same price of buying a used 5.0 GT. That being said, I'd rather have a cruiser for my get to work car and then a car dedicated entirely to racing. One where I can rip EVERYTHING out to get that last pound off the wheels, one where I can put in all the safety equipment and ergonomics be damned. One that's uncompromisedly an *** out race car. I can put the money into it, the question is, is a 90's 5.0 worth it?

500 hp is about the accepted limit for the Ford 5.0 block. But if you are planing a track car the you will go though a few engines over the years I am sure. I reccomend building the chassis first and then decice on what motor your going to run. You can always trough a warmed over stocker, with a good heads and cam package and maybe some nitrous, run 11's for awhile and then build killer engine down the road.

Aighty, either way, the fact of the matter is, I want to keep my 6er but also would like a V8. It's cheaper to buy a 5.0GT than it is to upgrade to an newer GT. Is there a more acceptable platform for high output?
