how to paint the rims or take the emblem off??

painting the rims. Like what did you use and how with stripping and prep work. technique for actually painting...stuff like that.

Ok
1. take the wheels off the tire
2. Clean the rims
3. Sand with either 400 grit paper or a brilo pad Red ( i used both)
4. Make sure there are no shiny spots or spots not dull finished
5.Take a drill bit about the size of the rivit on the back of the center cap and drill it out
6. push the center cap off. ( I used a smaller drill bit)
7. Once everything is sanded dull blow off with air hose
8. Clean with a cleaning solution.( I am in autobody class so i used "First Clean")
9. Set them on some type of suface (needs to be clean and no dust around. this is what you will be painting on.
I was in a paintbooth so i spent time cleaning the booth and laying water on the floor so dust wont fly up.
10. Use sealer and spary the wheels with it I used the top of the line dupont sealer. (teacher had some left over freebie)
11. take a tack rag and tack of the sealer once it is dry to remove any dust or dirt.
12.Apply base coat. in my case it was black.
13. Wait about 15 minutes for paint to flash. (it tells you flash time on side of can)
14. Apply a second coat of base
15. Next you put on the clear coat. I used pearl so you mix the pearl in with the clear. ( i did one coat of pearl clear and one coat of clear with no pearl.
16. clean up your done

i used a small touch up gun to spray with so i could get in the tight areas with out spraying too much paint on the surface. that would cause runns

i did mine a little different

i didnt take off the tires,i just taped around the lip like i wanted and put paper over the tires
i taped off the pony emblem (i wouldnt recommend it) and i had bought some wheel spray paint from O'Reilley's and sprayed it on, about 3 coats, and there is a base coat and they havea clear in the wheel spray paint (i havent tried it yet)

but, i dont like the color of these on my car, so im just gonna get them powdercoated

they look nice i really wanna see them on the car u gotta get pics when there on

nice. might have to give this a try. does not seem too hard more time consuming.

they werent done with a lot of care, so if done correctly and take your time im sure theyll look awesome.
