I don't think there is a lot that can be done to upgrade the T5 with regard to strength.
Basically,we drive the T5untilit grenades,then buy a new one.
It can take quite a bit more than some folks will have you believe though.
It depends on how abusive you are.

depends on alot of things... what kinda power do you plan to put out? plan on runnin at the track 24/7? and lastly and most importantly, can ya drive. most t5s have the syncros go out, which is maily the drivers fault. im putting a new t5 in my car very soon(its sittin in my bedroom, waitin to go in, lol), my problem is the syncros, but i bought it like that.

I ran my car at the drag strip everyfriday in 2001, street racing every satryday night (shame on me). Been through 4 trannys that year.3 times for the syncros, 1 grenaded. I was running 13.1s at 107 to 11.40s at 121 (150hp nx). The one that grenaded, I bought the hardened gears, cluster-1st-2nd, lasted 1 week. The harder they are the more bridle they are.

+1 on EVERYTHING dime said, most have the syncros go, however once you push enough power threw it about 350HP the case will worp under heavy load which will cause gears to bind. the binding gears cause the bearings to fail, and it the car it still driven after that many times it'll grenade.
the t-5 will hold what your throwing at it, providing you can drive, the 3.73 will help the tranny too...
