1) back in the day transgo was considered the best shift kit you could get

2) shiftkits DO lengthen the life of the trans, they improve oiling (the trans shifts smooth by STARVING IT FOR OIL)

3) your buddy was not an isolated case, my '90 GT i bought new went through 3 aod's and never was quicker than 14.20's

the best rebuild i had consisted of the MS low gearset, transgo shift kit and tci 2200 converter , filled w/ synthetic fluid. it lasted 8 months

Wonder if there's a connection there?

2200 rpm stall is less than 400 rpm over stock, it's really not going to make that big of a difference.

What did your internals consist of?

Now nothing against you 92hatchlx, but it kinda seems like your recommending them and telling me to give them ur info so you get that 20 bucks...

Can anyone else recommend a shift kit or comment on the baumann one?

7 months and 4K miles later and I still haven't had any problems with my Transgo shift kit.

trans-go kit comes with a kevlar band. not exactly easy to break...

i'd say something else was goin wrong in side hatches AOD. the AOD is pretty weak and not even good for over 250hp in stock form.

Sorry again for the noobish questions but wat do you guys recommend for my AOD to make it stronger so it can support higher HP levels and a transgo kit without any worry of it damaging my tranny??

I'm not the only one that this has happened to. And what kit are you referring to? My shift kit didn't come with kevlar bands.

I'm sure that I've got at least 25 horse over stock and I have had no issues with my transmission or signs of trouble.

just to chime in, i don't know much about AOD's like these guys but 92hatchlx has been posting about the baumann shift kits and stuff. just going to back him up and say that hes not trying to get that $20. i've heard about the baumann shift kits as well, all i've heard is good about them. just something to think about...

One thing that would help the trans alot is a tranny cooler, not expensive and easy to install...

no a stocker is 1800 i think

the inetrnals were: redline clutches , 2.84 1st gear, 1.55 2nd gear , wider OD band and some other misc stuff

motorsport says it should have been bulletproof to the 11's
