Default T-5 Removal

My clutch is new, but the trans need to be replaced. Can the trans be removed from the bell housing, leaving the BH in place? Thatis, can I remove the 4 bolts from the trans to BH and slide the trans out not disturbing the clutch, etc?

No....take the bell housing off with the tranny. You will not disturb the clutch because the pressure plate is bolted to the the fly wheel enclosing the clutch.. While you have it off, you can check the conditionof the pressureplate, and clutch. Even if it is new, better to have peace of mind. Better to look now and see if you have to replace something then later and do it all over again. Alsothink about getting a new throw out bearing also.

No.....the trans wont come off of the BH? It appears as though only 4 bolts hold it in place. Even if I did remove the BH, it would seem to be easier with the trans out of the way.

The tranny will come off the bell housing. I would take the bell housing off so you can see the condition of the clutch regardless if it is new. It is 6 bolts more.

He's trying to say that you should ALSO remove the bellhousing after the transmission is out to inspect everything
