Getting a 5.0

Getting a 5.0
Looks like I am going to be purchasing a 5 liter Mustang within the next week or so. I am gonna keep the sixxer as a daily driver. Its a 93 LX hatchback, 96K miles, and 5 speed transmission. Car has just 3.73 gears as of now. The seller wants $3600 for it. Does this seem like a good price? Only thing wrong with the car is that the power door lock actuators are bad and the rpm needle doesnt work all the time. Other than that, everything is decent. What mods do you think it would take (except for nitrous/supercharger/turbo) to get the car into the 11's. I know there are a lot of variables involved here, but just a basic recipe that would get me close to 11s is what I am looking for. What do you guys think it will take?

LOL, same problems as mine, the door actuators is an easy fix, i just pulled one off a car in the junkyard. The rpm guage is probably some burnt diodes due to a failed resistor. I'm looking for a radioshack that carries the right type of resistor. No luck so far, all tin core, no metal oxide resistors, which is what it needs.
Anyway, I bought my 1992 for $3,800. It came with performance headers/exhausts, pulleys, springs, adjustable shocks, and the normal K&N reusable air filter. So it seems about even, yours is a year newer, but I'm not sure about the 1993, heard some bad things about them, don't think they use forged pistons like the 1988-1992 does...

That is a very good price, like he said the doorlocks arent a big deal, and Im not sure about the Tach, but 3,600 is a very good deal seeing how most of them are going for around 6k here in so cali... I got my 91 for 4700 and it's completely stock, just what I wanted. My neighbor down the street has a 89GT, he has put in a 331 stroker, GT40X heads, Edelbrock Intake, X-303 cam, and a Vortech SC and it is running 11.20's on slicks, oh and he has 3.55's in the rear. The biggest addition to these cars are the exhaust and intake, heads, and gears. With those mods listed right there you're looking at low 13's.. These cars are amazing... YES in fact the 93's did not come with forged pistons, they came with hyperneumatic pistons, but they made the same amount of power. GET IT!! good luck

RE: Getting a 5.0
seems pretty decent just the 93 was rated lower than the 89-92 and plus it has cast pistions instead of the forged so i wouldn't throght to much gas at it with the stock short block oh yeah welcome to the foxbody ownership

RE: Getting a 5.0
Thanks for all the help guys. I am going to be taking a look at the car this week and hopefully getting the loan through my bank. Ive always wanted a fox body. I cant wait to get the car and work on it slowly. For the past year I've been modding the v6 and I have gotten nowhere. Low 15s at best. Ill keep you guys posted on what happens and Ill post up pics.
