Default rear end

does anyone know how many spline axles came in a stock 85 gt rear end. the reason i ask is i want to put that rear end out of the 85in my 96 5.0 but the axles in the 85 are 4 lug and the axles in the 96 are 5 lug.

the axles in youre 96 are wider. the should be the same spline wich is 28. i think the rear in youre 85 is 7.5 inch while the one in youre 96 is a 8.8 inch.

the 96 was a 3.8 but i said **** on that and put in a 5.0 if that makes a dif

well the rear in the 85 is still the same size as the 96 v6 rear except that the one from the 5.0 is a track-loc.

craigslist.com has alot of good deals on used mustang 8.8 rears. check there first.. the go from $50- $250 all the time.. already posi's.. some already have gears installed.

i was just wondering cause for now i am going to take the axles out of the 96 rear end and put them in the 85 rear end and put it in the 96, would that work, or will i run into problems with the brakes cause the brakes on the 86 are obviously drums and on the 96 they are disc
