Yea you might want to take a little sand paper to that balancer and see what your timing is at. Its not exaclty something you can get by the sound of it.

Get your balancer cleaned off and set that timing to 14*, then if it pings back off a degree or two until it stops.. Setting timing by ear is not the best way to do it.. 10* is the stock setting from the factory. Make sure you are setting the proper way also.
