Sprung A Leak
Well, yesturday after class, I went to the Amercinn to pick up my dad, and just out of instinct (and paranoia), I looked under my car and sure enough something was dripping...bad. I looked under the hood...coolant, right behind the water pump on top of the timing chain cover gasket. I checked all the hoses and all of them were dry. Then I looked at it a second time and again while it was running, slid under it and it looks like it coming from the timing chain cover gasket where the port runs to the block for the water pump. I know a guy I work with has this problem too on his F-150 5.0. I don't know, but is this pretty common? I have 140k on the ticker which is really just the motor mileage now. It almost looks like it was seaping for a long time, cause just on that side it's really grungy looking. I've done this type of work a lot, I just hope it is that cover gasket.

RE: Sprung A Leak
Well, last night after work I took it all apart. This leak gave me a lot of excuses to do things I wanted to to anyway. I'm getting rid off all the smog pump and tubing, I took out the A/C, and working on removing the EGR. And to tope it all off, I wanted to clean and sort of detail the entire underhood compartment. With a Cuda parts washer both at work and school I can get a bunch of components clean and maybe paint some stuff. I can see a lot of this stuff going on eBay as it's all complete and working, except the A/C whcih lost its charge a long time ago. Hey, how hard is it to take out the A/C core? And the injection tubes going into the heads...when I take those out, could a guy just unbolt it, take the pieces that bolted to the heads, cut the tube flush off, and fill it with weld?

Sell? Did you honestly say that!? I know a lot of people say that they will never sell their car, but I won't. For a couple of reasons. One, the man who sold it to me was my boss and knew everything about anything and passed away this summer, so it's his legacy. Two, it's the best platform in my opinion to build speed.
I'm really surprised how easy it is to remove the A/C. I mean, yes I already had the radiator out but after that, just unbolt the condenser after disconnecting the lines, properly..., and unbolting the accumulator. Later, this week I'll take a look into how to take the core out. The Smog is going to be a little more difficult with the head injection.
