painting interior
Completely blacking out everything i can find in my car. It's all grey now, i bought the krylon fusion stuff. Can i just clean it with windex, then spray a couple coats down and i'll be safe? shud i use acetone or anything? As far as the door panels and headliner, can i do anything to paint them or must be reordered? As well as the door armrests....

RE: painting interior
I would not use windex. When I painted my interior I went to a paint shop and got DuPont Anti Static wipes and they worked great. Another thing you can use is "Total Prep" from Autozone. I have never used it with plastic pieces but I have used it on engine parts and it works great, it says you can use it on plastic so Im sure it would be fine. Also, let me know how that paint holds up, I used SEM Landau Black.

RE: painting interior
dont do it! you dont paint interior you dye it, so you already are off on a bad start. you want black interior buy it, I see it all the time on ebay, then you can go and sell your interior on ebay, it will look better and probably cost the same in the end

RE: painting interior
88, after that static stuff, whatd u use to actually paint the interior?
|
RE: painting interior
I used SEM Landau Black paint. There are alot of guys on here who have also used that and had good experiences with it.

RE: painting interior
I will definetly agree that I much rather have a original black interior but if your trying to do it on a budget painting is the way to go. I know guys who sell full black interiors for $600+ every day.

RE: painting interior
yeh 89 i know what your saying, but i dont feel like looking for everything and then selling everything. 88, was that used in a spray gun or does it come in a can?
|
RE: painting interior
Not sure.... alot cheaper though. Grey interiors are a dime a dozen. I got a full grey interior except for headlines and front seats for $40bucks from a junkyard.... and the interior was in perfect condition. That was the dash, center console, shifter bezels, rear seats, quarter panels, all interior trim, pillars, rear carpet, etc. etc. etc.

RE: painting interior
dude dont waste your time with anything else go to your local paint shop and get what 88bluegt said SEM landau black vinyl dye. just be sure to take your time to prep and besure to use wax and grease remover prior to washing with soap and water. to sand just use agray scuff pad and make sure you get the whole panel sanded, let dry and use bulldog adhesion promoter let sit for 5-10min and shoot light coats of color and you have a sick looking interior. I even painted the carpet pieces and the headliner with many light coats but looks good. thats the only pic i got of my interior now.

RE: painting interior
you want to clear coat that stuff with water based outdoor stuff. i know a friend who used the fusion stuff on his cavi and it got all sticky in the summer because it sat outside all the time. then after he cleared it, look awesome!! and only use water if the paint your using is water based and if its laquer or oil based use that base for a clear

RE: painting interior
I cleaned mine with windex and used Krylon Fusion black paint. Works great as long as it's plastic. For the door panels and armrests though, I would suggest ordering them from 50resto.com The door panels are only like 100 bucks a pair. Not sure about the armrests though.

RE: painting interior
The one experience I had with paintingsome interior pieces,we used that black bumper paint from autozone. The finishmatched the other plastic pieces that were originally black. It was that matte plastic look not like the tacky lookin gloss finish you'll get from the other black paint.

RE: painting interior
