Default 94 GT question..

I just purchased a 94 GT. The runs but is in need of some TLC. The guy I bought the car from has re-routed the belt drive system and has unhooked something he called the intake cooler. He says this pumps cool air through the intake manifold and cools it down. The car seems to be doing fine without it but I would like to know what it is and how it might affect performance. Any help is greatly apprecitated.

+1 it doesnt pump air into the intake.. but rather the exhaust, and not to cool it either

This would have to be it. I have located all the belt drive accessories that should be hooked up and running and as I said the car does run. What does the air pump do?

its supposed to pump fresh air into the exhaust to "dilute" the emissions that come out the tail pipes... it doesnt actually help emmissions at all, just loweres the PPM counts

basically its a stupid device that is only on there cause of retarded smog laws and you should leave it off unless your in a state that has to pass a smog test lol. Has nothing to do with cooling the intake that guy was obviously a total idiot.
