the guy i bought the car from said he thinks it has 3.08. how can i find out? because i know that it was an available option on that car.

open the door and look where it saysAX on the door tag. if its a 3.08 it will have the letterZ there.....

and if it has a 2.73 it will have an M

If all else fails get under the car and look on the tag on the diff. There should be something like:

S217A
3L08 88 2b14

The first code in the second line is the ratio. The L stands for locker and the other numbers is the gear. The other two on the line are for 8.8 rear and the build date in year month day format.

Wow...my car has 2.73s. Was that an option with 5 speed GTs? If not my car might have been an AOD to T5 swap.

if the guy said u had a 3.08 he might have installed itu might have to jack it up in nuetral and find out the hard way

I think if it came with an aod it would have the higher gears in it originally. i don't think aod's came with 2:73 but i could be wrong.

5-speeds came with 2.73s stock.

ya aod's came with 2.73's, i think the 3.27's were an option tho
