Default Swapping in new axles this week end - Need help

How hard is it? I have never been in a rear end before. I have done engine internals and suspension parts and trannys, clutches. Never been inside a rear end. What all will I need? Pics maby? Also I think my carrier bearing needs replaced, rear is making noise. What oil to use and what all will I need?

Thanks in advance.

I think that I used synthetic 80-w90 oil, and with the synthetics I don't think that you need to use friction modifier. Use RTV instead of a gasket.

its really easy... u will be done in 30 minutes, u need a gooo 8mm wrench for the pin bolt.. u only get one chance with that.. nevermind u have track lock.. but change the bearings with the axles, rule of thumb, also use motorcraft 75-140 full synthectic

any 75 140 i would use that already has gl 5 friction modifier in it any synthetic gear lube will have it in it already, i use mobil you can get it at any auto parts store. you will need a crow bar and or slide hammer to pull the axle bearing and seals out if you want to replace em. and a chiltons book will tell you all you need to know, maybe a haynes will explain somewhat. You need to slide axles a little inwards to see the c clips and a magnet to pull em off. just fill it up till it over flows when your done and is use a gasket too not just rtv. But its not that big of a deal, Not like a head gasket or anything. Ive never had one leak on me and iaint a pro. and there is a lil bolt that hold the crosspin in, pull that lil bolt out then the pin and you can change the carrier bearings, they just sit right on the side. Its not much, pretty self forward unless your putting in new gears.
