Default max milage to buy a 5.0 at.

im curently driving a 1995 3.8l v6 ford mustang i like that car but its not as good as i expected.

so im looking to sell mine get like 2.5k for it, its in great shape with a good stereo. and buy a 5.0 w/e year. perferable airbags.

anyway what is the most amount of miles you would perchase a 5.0 with. and where is a good place to find one. a project car mabye.

do u have the money to rebuild, if u do than just find a good block, and rebuild everythin else, but if ur just tryin to find a motor to drop in and drive, then i would say that go no higher than 110,000 mi maybe even lower, but if u got a extra 500-600 dollars find one with any amount of miles just as long as the block aint cracked worped or siezed and rebuild it, they aint hard to find, in a junkyard, they are everywhere

I wouldnt worry too much about miles on the car. Chances are alot of stuff got replaced over the years and the motor might have been rebuilt.
You can always replace the motor if it goes bad.

well a rebuilt costs about what? a grand? to totally rebuild? more? 1500? i think id like a 1900 to 1993 5.0 i have a 1995 now and like the later model better.

where is a good place to find a project car?

Id just periodically check ebay, craigslist, autotrader, cars.com, and used car dealerships near you. As for milage, they last a long time as long as you treat them well. Its more the tranny id be worried about.

not a 93 mmake it a 92 and earlyer they changed the pistons in 93 from forged to something cant spell it so I'm not going to try

i just bought an 88 gt like 6 monthes ago with 1800,000 and a brand new paint job. already replaced the gas tank, oil pump, motor mount, and i need a transmission. paid 6500for the carspent another grand since then. i should have a pretty sic car by summer....so its worth it to me. but dour best to find out everything u can about the motor and drivetrain before buying.

wow... 1800,000... thats like 1 million 800,000 miles!!!

mines got 157k on it and its still going strong... even though the 12 year old factory oil pan gasket is leaking... im tellin ya... quality control is horrible..

Honestly, don't worry about mileage. Buy a car with a good body, as mechanical fixes are always much cheaper than body fixes.
