RE: high mileage modified 5.0's
im debating if my 176,000 mile car is worth putting about 6-7 grand into or not? its rly buggin me if i should or not, i no if i should it would loose a lot, but i plan on keeping the car. This will include a decent performance rebuild or motor and tranny, stall, gears, suspension, fix worn out stuff like bushings, and other suspention parts (ball joints and tie rods r sh!tty), and a cowl hood like u have adder, im not sure yet tho... what do u guys think
post more set ups too

RE: high mileage modified 5.0's
The body of your car seems to be in really good shape. As long as the frame looks as good, I'd say go for it.. BUT!!!!
Keep in mind that everything adds up!
I knwo you had a HUGE post about what kind of performance parts you should install in your car... And I dont see any reason why you shouldnt go ahead and do the work that your car wants. Get some ball joints, buy a master bushing kit from energy suspension and freshen everything up. Toss in a set of adjustable shocks and struts, throw in some H&R Super Sport springs, and get some rear control arms.
But when it comes time to build your motor... this is where you need to not "cheap out"
You asked if you should put ported and polished E7 heads on your car... well.. NO you shoudl not. E7 heads are not worth the amount of time it would take to port them out. You can get a set of GT-40 heads and get better results for the same money.
If you want a good reliable combo that will make good power. Go Ported and polished GT-40 heads... milled .030, Steeda #19 cam, 1.7 roller rockers... preferably FMS, Crane of Harland Sharpe, GT-40, TFS street heat, or Holley SystemaxII intake, 70mm TB, 80mm ford MAF and 24# injectors.
you could make an EASY 300rwhp on this setup if you have it professionally dyno tuned.
There is no need for a super strong HD transmission... a freshly rebuilt T-5 will hold up fine. If you want tp upgrade the T-5... www.ddperformance.com sells a kit that offers a new set of 1/2/3/4 gears that are hardened. these will make your T-5 more than capable of handling that engine setup.
Run some 3.73 gears and call it a day (if you plan on drag racing and using drag radials.. get 31 spline axles and a new differential when you do the gears)
