JUST BORE OUT THE STOCK HEADS??? HOW MUCH WOULD YOU EXPECT TO PAY FOR PORT AND POLISH HEADS MORE OR LESS?
My memory is fuzzy on this so double check me...
There is only 1 year of 351w heads that are any good. I think it was the 69 casting? After that the 351w heads are basically the same as the 302/5.0 heads.
Which means they suck.

Most any aftermarket head (I consider the GT40 to be aftermarket) can accept 2.020/1.6 valves.
There may be exceptions, but I can't think of any?

The GT40's may limit power, but they should do fairly well. Alot better than any ported stock head will do anyway!

For the cam, look for something with slightly more duration than what you would consider for an equivelant 302.

check my site for some more 351w swap stuff...

good luck,
jason

Adder- How can you say a strut brace isn't doing any good, especially in a vert?
... if a FSTB was so damn good... why didnt 6,009 cobra built in 1994 come equipped with one?
Very simple. It all comes down to money. When an automaker is designing a car, they will go to great lengths to save a nickel (literally) in production costs. When you're talking a million units, that five cents adds up quickly. In this case, let's say the brace costs Ford $30. That's just over $180,000 in the cost of the parts to install on the production run, to say nothing of the extra cost to redesign the strut towers on each side to accomodate the brace, the hardware to install it and the labor time involved on the assembly line. Add in the cost of the several hundred spare units needed to support the car in the future and I'd bet the cost of putting a strut tower brace on a car that wasn't designed for it originally would be well over a million dollars. For more insight intothis, read "Wheels" by Arthur Hailey. It's old, but still relevant.

BTW, the 96 and 97 Cobras had a strut tower brace. Using your logic, it must do something then, eh?
