Default Prepping for interior paint

About to paint some pieces in my interior that are REALLY nasty. I work at a restaurant and am just gonna bring everything into the sinks and scrub them down real good with dish soap. I just wanted to make sure that won't mess anything up, and thats fine to prep before i actually paint. Also, what is acetone and is there any kind of clear i shud use (thats in a spray can) after i apply a coat or two.

If you don't HAVE to use a spray can use your spray gun and use DuPont products. I used them on a few of my interior peices like my speakers covers and stuff. WOW...

and thats a fine way to prep

yup, that'll be fine, 50resto sells an interior panel cleaner and primer, clean real good, light scotch brite, wipe free with antistatic wipes, prime, dry time, paint a few coats every 20 min.

on the stuff i have done i always cleaned them good and dried and wiped it down with thinner, that seems to maybe soften it slightly so the dye will soak in, i have never had a failure with that method and i have done that for years on different cars with zero problems
surely there tons of way to do it but that is the way that works for me !

yeh i cleaned them real good and we did it right at the restuarant tonight with krylon fusion. good enough for me, i'll see how it holds up. is it possible to use a clear like a week after paint? i probably won't use it all over, since some pieces have DEEP scratches. ill get a pic up later.
