if im planning to go turbo, is it worth stroker it into a 331 or 347; flat top pistons or dish, ok basically im asking, does anyone have good suggestions on what to do when going turbo? i plan on making this as radical as i can.

Well as far as pistons go you are gona want low C/R so dished pistons would be optimal. About the stroked deal, a stroked turbo 302 would be pushing the HP limits of the block, but to answer your question, if you are gonna rebuild the motor, you might as well stroke it

Your compression ratio is going to depend on how much boost you plan on running. If you plan on running 10psi or less with an intercooler you CAN get away with 10.1. Otherwise you start having problems with detonation and have to pull more and more timing out which in turn is hurting your power potential. Also keep in mind that a stock 302 block is said to only be able to handle about 500 horse and that your internals will stand up to the power better than the block will. With that said I would look into a Dart or Man'o'war block to go with those forged internals if you plan on making any more than 500 horse. Also Oringed heads would also be a good idea for higher than 10psi.

CR of 8.5:1 is ideal for a lot of boost, but seeing how you have stock block, you'll be producing a lot more hp that it can handle, as for the stroker kit, i wouldn't bother unless you using an aftermarket block, that can handle 700rwhp... if your talking a 347 with a 8.5:1 comp ratio, forged internals, with an rpm range upto 6500... along with h/c/i combo and a turbo.... thats a $10k motor... you'll need a tranny and rear end that'll hold up to that kinda power. Very very expensive!

dont worry about when they crack build one and tell us i have read articles of them cracking with stock hp.. and i have also read some of a guy doing a single turbo 1200 daily driver.. so build it and find out if you can afford a stroked turbo engine you should have enough money notto worry about it..

that 1200hp... was NOT on a stock block... maybe stock sizes.. bore and stroke wise... but definitly NOT a stock block

Instead of not worrying about it, why not just build it right the first time? Be alot less of a headache and downtime when it does hit the fan...

i have 9.5 to 1 flat tops on 11 psi boost. i have to use sunoco115 octane fuel to keep the knocking at bay. i havent got around to a boost timing master yet. i like the smell anyway. get the main girdle and lifter valley girdle and the stock block will be good for 750hp. go 331 instead of a 347, you wont need to notch the bottom of the cylinder walls and lose some strenth.
