losing oil pressure on the highway
ok first of all im going off the stock gauge. I KNOW ITS CRAP but it does work!
it reads fine when i start it in the morning and driving to work its perfect. but if im on the highway for say 20 minutes, the gauge SLOWLY drops. it will drop almost to the red and NOT come up. in the heat of the moment I thought i felt the car bogging. i pulled over (mind u its like 2 am) and popped the hood. put my hand on the intake and it wasnt even that hot (it was like 15 degrees out). i open the rad and its full. check the oil looked ok but i still added about 3/4 of a quart. started to drive again gauge reading fine then like 5 mins later it just drops again. faster than before.. i pull over again and just rest my head back for like 10 mins. started drivin again and it was falling and i just didnt care anymore.
i got it home and let it sit over night and drove it to work today. check engine light flashed for a second. i ran it for codes. code: 44 = air thermactor inop
not sure where to even begin with this... i have aftermarket gauges but everytime i ask someone to install them they say they cant do it.

RE: losing oil pressure on the highway
I once had a bad oil filter do this to me. The element on the inside would colapse and cause me to loose pressure. That is a place to start. I like running WIX filters, it was a fram that did this though.

My guage would drop to the bottom of the L on normal after warming up (it would go up if i revved it), I had the Ford dealer check it and I have a bad sending unit. Maybe you have the same.
