LX 5.0

I went to go potentially buy a 89 LX hatchthat had a cobra motor, a nice hood never seen that kind of hood beforeand 93 cobra rims. The primary problem with the car was that itwas at a shaddy dealer who didn't know hardly anything about the car. It had a shortshifter, BBK equal headers, flows, original H pipe. The car had rust along the sides underneath and around the fenders over the tires. Anyways to my question. Is there a way to find out if it is a real cobra motor? Alsodoes the Cobra manifold from summit bring a ordinary 5.0 HO up to the cobra specifications? I got the price from 3,900 to 2,800. I'm skeptical if I should buy it.

check the vin, 1993cobra.com, also it should have black valve covers, GT will be on the front of the heads, between the rust and the fact that it has a different motor, i wouldn't touch it.i don't trust anybody else's work, but that's just me. good luck

An original Cobra MAS sensor will be marked 'F1SF'
The 5.0 HO MAS sensor will be marked 'F1ZF'

This will give a good indication of whether or not the computer is from a 93 Cobra.

Cobra Injectors should be blue (24lb) not orange (19lb).

I don't think there is a good way to tell an aftermarket Cobra intake from an original Cobra intake.

93 cobra has different manifold that should have a cobra plaque on top, 24 lb injectors, gt40 heads, a different cam, 1.7 roller rockers, and different valve covers. Also a larger throttle body and MAF.

yano those stickys up top? yea someone just wrote a big thing for us that has all the cobra specs... why dont ya check it out

but as for the car, nope wouldnt buy it, cuza the rust and such.
