Starting off, need some tips/help
First I would like to say that I have read the stickies and have been as far as 15 pages back with no answer to my questions.
The car is all stock besides flowmaster mufflers and I would like some more power. According to the tech sticky, a pulley kit and a simple K&N air filter is the next step. I find it hard to believe the K&N would help that much in the stock air intake setup? Is it really worth the $50 for the filter?
Secondly I've read that a bigger mass air meter increases power quite a bit. Is a MAM kit like this one a good choice? Will I need anything else for the upgrade such as a new throttle body/egr over the factory?

I'm guessing after a h/c/i upgrade the 19 lb injectors will need to be upgraded as well. Will my car suffer at all if I were to just go with the 24lb injector MAM kit rather the 19lb?
Edit: Car is a 1991 5.0 LX AOD

K&N stock replacement air filter, not worth $50.00. Cold air intake is the way to go.
Go get a cold air intake with a generic filter, then go get the K&N replacement for that.
It should be cheaper than buying a K&N CAI

I figured it wouldn't help a lot. Cheapest non brand CAI kits ive found are still $65+. The K&N filter for that, alone, is another $50. That's only $5-$10 cheaper than a full BBK/K&N kit.

get the k&n cold air for $100, 24 lb injectors are no problem, just remember you will need a larger liter ph fuel pump like a 190 lph but i would reccomend a 250lph 190=$100 250=$150+ i just went to the 225lphtell me what your budget is and lets talk what you can do right away.

As of right now I have about $800 to spend on the 5.0. It needs a tune-up pretty bad so I was looking into this...

I have no idea when it comes to removing cats. Will I need a new section of exhaust to replace where the cats were? It has flowmaster mufflers, those aren't good? Everyone uses those! lol

yea i didnt know you had flows, but you can replace the section of pipe where you remove the cats. from each side. i have headers, no cats, xpipe, then flowmasters. you can click on the blue highlighted section in my sig under this post and hear the diffrence, its a video of me running a chevy at the track.

Doing the mass air meter kit is still a good idea though, right? I'd like to get that and whether or not I would have to replace the throttle body and egr out of the way first.
What type of headers would you recommend? BBK shorties?
