synchronizer is out, happens alot to the t-5 tranny.

not neccisarly, the t-5 are notorious for reverse grindage, if it wont go in reverse easily put it in 1st and edge forward just a bit, it should then fall right in, if it doesnt then, then you may have syncro probs. , but try that first mine does that all the time and thats what i do. my 83 did the same damn thing.

depends on what kind but if synchros go bad you just as soon look at rebuilding the whole tranny if i were you.

Wait a minute, fellas. There's nothing wrong with his tranny! I think you'll find that most people's trannies on here grind into reverse if a forward gear isn't selected first. Mine is that way too. I don't believe that reverse gear is synchronized in T5s, so it's not grinding because your synchros are going out.
