Default Pony is down for the count :update:

for a few weeks i had a weird sputtering in the engine, i thought it might be a clogged injector or something, possibly a fuel pump thats going bad but i was able to drive the car.

as it got worse the car would shut off while driving and then be back to normal a few seconds later.

but now, 2 days ago, it didnt want to turn back on. i bought a few gallons of gas and a bottle of injector cleaner just in case the tank was empty and it wasnt. i can hear the pump priming when i turn the key but when i turn on the engine it turns over but it wont start. it doesnt even hesitate, like if it has no gas or something. any ideas? thanks guys

edit: i always forget, 1990 gt, headers and cai, the spark plugs, cap, rotor, and wires are all less than 4 months old so i dont think its that.

+1 on the TFI, sounds like it might be building up resistance in a circuit from heat.

ive seen the spark test on my old passat, you pull a plug and put a screw driver in it and get close to some bare metal on the engine to see the spark right?
if i have none its the TFI coil? both the battery and alternator are less than a year old so that should be the only other thing that affects spark?

update:
i am able to push start the car (before the new coil) and that seems to keep it alive but the weird sputtering/missfiring continues and it dies when it feels like it.
i bought and installed a new coil and nothing changed.
ideas?
