the D**n heatercore

RE: the D**n heatercore
I think it depends on where you buy the replacement at? Don't buy one from the local discount autoparts stores. Go to ford or buy from 50resto. I've also heard that if you put a reducer on the input line it will make the heater core last longer. I think you reduce the larger pipe down to the same size as the smaller pipe.

Mine is original, but previous owner (My mother) wasn't good about flushing the sysytem, so now the colant system has rust and has turned engine intoone big battery. The older the car lasts the short life of heat coils. There have been previous threads on this talking about how you need a grounded heater coil to overcome this if your's is the same way.Search around and you can find it.

Where ever you buy it, make sure you place a reducer on the inlet side!!! I have bought them from ford and parts stores, (I replace alot of heater cores) and I think the reducer is the most important part...

it helps u get started but i had some different bolts and other crap in the way. it atleast gets you to the part where u can unbolt the dash supports
i had never done anything really this time consuming before. take it slow and bag/lable stuff. it takes longer but will go much smoother.
