crazy amount of white smoke HELP!!!
everything has been running fine and when i went to school today i started to notice alot of white smoke coming from my exhaust, and it didnt happen for about 5 miles of driving. I checked to see if i was overheating and it was at 170 degrees. So i dont think i blew a head gasket. Also i checked my oil for signs of water and i checked my rdiotr fluid for either loss of fluids or oil in it. Nothing. so if anyone might have an idea that would be great thanks.

RE: crazy amount of white smoke HELP!!!
White smoke on cold mornings is normal. That is condensation on the inside of your exhaust that is getting burned away. Unless your car is running really poorly I wouldnt worry about it.

RE: crazy amount of white smoke HELP!!!
You can have a blown head gasket without an overheating issue or even seeing water in the oil. They all make white "smoke" when it is cold outside as water is a byproduct of combustion. The big question is this something out of the ordinary for your car, that is, is it a large volume of white smoke compared to normal? I lost a head gasket on a 390 one time on the way home form work and I was leaving quite the smoke cloud, every time I stopped the whole world turned white! lol Does the exhaust smell funky? If your burning antifreeze it makes a pretty nasty smell. If it is a head gasket it will start eating water and get worse in pretty short order. Keep a close eye on it as antifreeze in the oil is a bad deal for all parts involved.
