WAIT A MINUTE!!!
After looking at the ford website recommended by roundman, they have a whole pile of crate motors that are at the HP level I am looking for. Just looks like a E303 cam, gt40 X303 heads and 9.0:1. Rated at 340Hp, 310 Tq. They just dont come with an intake manifold. Couldnt I just wrecking yard a 302 with the injector and upgrade the heads and cam on the rebuild?? That way I get all of the piddly stuff like alternator brackets and that stuff....ready to drop in after rebuild.

well, if im not mistaken, the early '90's Lightnings came with 351's didnt they ??? Project Frightning in MM&FF is running a lightning motor....its a fox body.....was a 4-cyl..........

After a little research, I think I will be going with a 351w like the crate motor on fordracing.com, 360 Hp and 400 Ftlbs with 9.0:1 comp, E303 cam and GT40 heads. Set of equal length shorties and a FI conversion on a performer manifold. Should be plenty enough for me! Thanks for talking me out of a 302!!
